Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a system (700) for sorting animals by anatomy. The system (700) has a radiation source (710), an image sensor (600), a path (720) to lead an animal (790) through a space (725) between them, an actuator (730) movable between different positions and a controller (740). The positions of the actuator (730) cause the path (720) to lead to different destinations. The image sensor (600) can capture radiographic images of the animal (790) from different perspectives, generate a three-dimensional representation of the animal (790) based on the radiographic images, and detect a predetermined feature in the three-dimensional representation of the animal (790). The controller (740) can locate the actuator (730) in one position when the image sensor (600) detects the predetermined feature in the three-dimensional representation of the animal (790) and locate the actuator (730) in another position when the image sensor (600) detects absence of the predetermined feature in the three-dimensional representation of the animal (790).
