Abstract:
The present invention provides: an imide-amic acid copolymer which is a precursor of a polyimide resin and enables a film to be obtained, said film having a low linear expansion coefficient, excellent thermostability, and undergoing minimal changes in yellowness even when heat treated at 400°C or more; a production method therefor; a varnish; and a polyimide film. The imide-amic acid copolymer includes repeating units represented by formula (1) and repeating units represented by formula (2), and the molar ratio of the repeating units represented by formula (1) to the repeating units represented by formula (2) is 5/95-60/40 inclusive. (A1 is a C4-39 aromatic group or an aliphatic group having a norbornane skeleton, B1 and B2 are groups represented by formula (3), A2 is a C4-39 aromatic group, X1 and X2 are hydrogen atoms, C1-6 alkyl groups, or C3-9 alkylsilyl groups, Y1 and Y2 are -COO- or -OCO-, R1, R2, and R3 are C1-20 organic groups, and h, i, j, and k are 0-4.)
