Abstract:
Provided is an impact-absorbing material that absorbs impact energy when an impact load is received. The impact-absorbing material comprises a fiber structure and a matrix resin. The fiber structure comprises: a tube body of which the central axis extends in the direction in which an impact load is applied; and a rib for connecting inner surfaces of the tube body that face each other. The fiber structure is impregnated with the matrix resin. The direction in which an impact load is applied is defined as the X direction and the direction in which the rib connects the inner surfaces of the tube body that face each other is defined as the Y direction. The tube body includes a fiber layer comprising: load-direction threads that are reinforced fibers extending in the X direction; and intersecting threads that are reinforced fibers which intersect the load-direction threads. In the rib, threads made from reinforced fibers extend only in a direction that is orthogonal to the X direction.
