Abstract:
There is provided a permanent magnet assembly (300) for a non-commutated linear actuator (100), the permanent magnet assembly (300) comprising: a magnetic core structure (350), and a permanent magnet (400) having a first pole and a second pole, wherein the magnetic core structure (350) comprises a central core portion (360) connected to the first pole of the permanent magnet (400), an outer hollow portion (370) connected to the second pole of the permanent magnet (400), and a gap region (380) positioned between the central core portion (360) and the outer hollow portion (370), wherein the magnetic core structure (350) is configured such that magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnet (400) flows between the central core portion (360) and the outer hollow portion (370) via the gap region (380), and wherein the magnetic core structure (350) comprises one or more protrusions (361, 371) extending into the gap region (380).
