Description:
"IMPROVED SEAL FOR GENERAL USAGE"

The present patent of

Privilege of Invention depicts a seal for general usage that presents a new block system for its cable, such fact makes it more effective and invulnerable to fraud attempts .

It is common knowledge that there are many types of seals used today, which present the most variable ways of application. Currently the seals that are used comprise models totally produced in plastic and in a monoblock structure, as well as other models in a more advanced structure, in which the blocking element is a cable, usually metallic, which lays tied to the seal body and may be crpssed to be sealed, and returns to the body where it is introduced and stays retained.

Some models of seals employ locking devices as a component in a cotter shape maintained under spring pressure, which allows the cable to pass only in one way (in the way of spring compression) , however, when the cable is pulled on the opposite direction, it is retained by the locking device in the cotter shape that exerts its blocking function.

Some modern seal models present a good effective level, but such effective level can be further improved with a new approach for the cable blocking system regarding the seal body, such fact that motivated the development of the said seal, which acts

according to a principle of locking that is totally new, and that is made by the adoption of three blocking points that operate in a simultaneous way against the seal cable.

Said seal will be better described with reference to the drawings related below, in which:

Figure 1 illustrates a view in an exploded perspective of the seal herein related, demonstrating all of its components in relative positioning; Figure 2 illustrates a schematic cut of said seal, being it totally mounted and being depicted in a condition according to which its cable is being grossed by the locking engine, as it is schematically indicated through arrow A; Figure 3 illustrates a view similar to the one presented in figure 2, in which, however, it is indicated the moment of the cable locking as a result of its tractioning in the direction indicated by arrow B;

Figure 4 illustrates another modality of the proposed seal that employs a double locking sequence system; said figure 4 represents a condition analogous to the one presented in figure 2, that is, with the cable being crossed by locking engines, such as it is schematically indicated through the same arrow A; and

Figure 5 depicts a view similar to figure 4 but analogous to the condition presented in figure 3, that is, where the seal is depicted at the moment of the

cable locking, such locking that takes place as a result of its tracking in the direction indicated by the same arrow B.

According to what is illustrated in the hereinabove figures, the seal object of this patent of Privilege of Invention comprises a body 1, which receives the mounting of a internal body 2, which receives the mounting of the locking device 3 that comprises a trunk 4 that holds three spheres 5. Locking device 3 further cpmprises a helicoidal spring 6 that permanently compresses the trunk component 4 against the bottom internal bpdy 2 ; however an internal cover 7 locks the components of the locking device 3 inside the body 2. The seal herein related further has a cable 9, which in one of its edges has a press-cable wad 9.

An external cover 10 that closes the body 1 as a whole, confining the seal components. Seal body 1 is a component preferably obtained through injection process that can be of plastic or even produced in metal such as zamak or another suitable material .

Body 1 presents flat surfaces Ia, in which can be applied sequential alphanumeric recording, or bar codes, through suitable equipment and methods, thus, allowing that each seal unit can be easily identified.

Seal cover 10, such as body 1, can be produced in injected plastic as well as in metal (zamak) , or even in another material that is suitable. As it was mentioned, cover 10 has the function of closing the seal body 1, thus finishing its components mounting.

The conical component 4 is a part preferably produced by injection (Nylon 6) and has lodges 4a in which the spheres 5 are positioned. In the example depicted in the present patent, the conical component 4 presents three lodges, being able to receive and incorporate three spheres 5.

The seal internal body 2 herein related is a component essentially cylindrical obtained by injection of "zamak 5" metal and has a longitudinal internal lodge 2a, which has its bottom wall 2b defined according to a essentially conical profile; said bottom wall 2b having, in a concentric way, a passing hole 2c in which the cable 8 can pass through.

Seal internal cover 7 is used to close the internal body and further has a passing hole 7a that allows the passage of cable 8.

The constructive and functional principle herein related is based on the compression strength exerted by spring 6 over the trunk component 4, such component that is permanently maintained against the bottom wall 2b that integrates the internal longitudinal locker lodge 2a from the internal body 2, however, such pressing maintains the spheres 5 rightly

positioned in their respective lodges 4a.

Spring 6 is compressed against the internal cover 7 that closes the internal body 2 and the top portion of the trunk component 4. When cable 8 is inserted through body 1, it also enters the internal body 2 mounted inside the body 1 and it arrives, through the passing hole 2c ; inside the trunk component 4; and when being forced to go forward, it provokes a fast retrocession in the component 4 that allows the distance of the spheres §, thus opening passage to cable 8.

By passing through spheres 5, the cable 8 can advance until crossing spring 6, cover 7 and external cover 10, condition specially depicted in figure 2, in which the direction of cable 8 passage is indicated by arrow A.

The movement indicated by arrow A determines the seal closing, because if the cable 8 is pulled in the opposite way, that is, such as depicted in figure 3, the retrocession movement of cable 8 provokes the drag of the trunk component; 4 towards the bottom conical wall 2b that integrates the lodge 2a of the internal body 2.

Such dragging movement makes the spheres 5, which enter effectively against said bottom wall 2b, to be radially compressed towards the component center 4, further cpmpressing the cable 8.

Therefore, the higher the strength cable 8 is pulled to be taken out of the seal, the

higher will be the effect of the locking provoked by spheres 5 that will be pushed in the opposite direction tp provoke the squeeze of cable 8.

Then, it is evident that the cable 8 only can be introduced in the seal in the direction indicated by arrow A, but, once introduced and crossed by the locking device 3, cable 8 will no longer be pulled.

The seal herein related can be further produced in the version depicted in figures 4 and 5 in which there are two trunk components 4, each one of them with their respective spheres 5.

In the model schematically produced in figures 4 and 5, body 1 presents itself and the internal profile of the lodge 2a depicted in figures 2 and 3 , in this case receiving one of the trunk components 4, over which is positioned an example of the internal body 2, where it is mounted the second trunk component 4 with its respective spheres 5.

The second device 4 has over itself the helicoidal spring 6, which is directly supported in the opposite way by cover 10 that is connected to body 1.

In the example depicted in figures 4 and 5, and as it occurs with the first model depicted in figures 1, 2, and 3, the cable 8 can pass only in the direction indicated by arrow A, and such passage must win the spring 6 resistance.

When cable 8 is pulled in the opposite way, that is, as it is demonstrated by arrow B in

figure 5, the locking effect occurs in each one of the trunk components 4, obeying the same operation system herein mentioned.

The seal object of this patent of privilege of invention might be used in the most variable fields of human activity, and it is not restricted to the example herein presented as an example of practical accomplishment .
