Abstract:
An enzyme for cleaving beta -1,4 -glucosidic bonds of cellulose comprising a cellulase having an aromatic group linked to a side chain of an amino acid residue or to a terminal amino acid residue of the cellulase wherein the enzyme functions at an elevated temperature and/or has an extended half-life at elevated temperature compared to the corresponding unmodified cellulose.
