Abstract:
Disclosed are an inactivation device and an inactivation method with which it is possible to efficiently inactivate microorganisms and viruses. The inactivation device is provided with: an UV light beaming unit for beaming light including UV light having a wavelength that inactivates microorganisms and/or viruses at a space or a surface inside a vehicle or a facility in which a person or an animal is present; and a control unit for controlling the beaming and non-beaming of the light by the UV beaming unit. The UV light included in the light released from the UV light beaming unit is light having a wavelength of 190-235 nm. The control unit performs control so that light emission operation and non-light-emission operation by the UV light beaming unit are alternately performed according to the wavelength of the UV light included in the light beamed from the UV light irradiation unit.
