Abstract:
An indexable drill having increased efficiency of discharge of cutting debris. A drill body for an indexable drill, comprising: cutting debris discharging grooves which discharge cutting debris generated by cutting inserts on the wall surfaces which define the cutting debris discharging grooves; and insert mounting seats on which the cutting inserts are removably mounted and which are formed on the tip side, in the direction of the rotation axis, of first wall surfaces of the cutting debris discharging grooves, said first wall surfaces facing the direction of the rotation of the drill. Cutting debris forming sections are provided at at least the tip portions of second wall surfaces which face the rear side, in the direction of the rotation of the drill, of the cutting debris discharging grooves, and the cutting debris forming sections are each provided with either protrusions which protrude outward from the second wall surface and/or recesses which are recessed inward from the second wall surface.
