Abstract:
A 2-dimensional information code (100) is provided. In the interior of the code area for the information code are formed a specific pattern area in which is disposed a position detection pattern or other specific pattern (104) of predetermined shape, a data recording area in which data is recorded by a plurality of types of cells (102), and an error correcting code recording area in which an error correcting code is recorded by the plurality of types of cells (102). In addition, in the interior of the code area, at a position other than the specific pattern area, the data recording area, and the error correcting code recording area, a free area (110) which is an area in which data is not recorded by cells and which is not subject to error correction by the error correcting code is formed in a size larger than the size of the single cells (102).
