Abstract:

A code sequence decomposing circuit extracts normalized coefficient information, quantized accuracy information and signal frequency components contained in a code sequence received at an input terminal, and a signal component decoding circuit regenerates the original signal frequency components. The signal frequency components only in a band adjacent to a nondecoded band are fed to a band limiting circuit, and the value at a specified part on the high band side of signal frequency components is made to take on, for example, 0, thus producing a signal having a limited band. That signal is subjected to spectrum-despreading by a spectrum-despreading circuit, combined with a signal of value 0 by a band synthesis filter and outputted from an output terminal. Degradation of sound quality is suppressed when the scale of the decoder is reduced by decoding only a part of the band.
