Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to an image processing device and method that make it possible to facilitate scalable decoding of attribute information. A process for classifying, with respect to attribute information of a point cloud that represents a three-dimensionally shaped object, points of the point cloud into predictive points that preserve a difference value between the attribute information and a predictive value and reference points of which the attribute information is referenced when the predictive value is derived, is recursively repeated on the reference points to thereby hierarchize the attribute information. At the time of this hierarchization, the predictive points are selected so that points are present also in a voxel of an immediately higher hierarchy to which belongs a voxel in which points of the current hierarchy are present. The present disclosure is applicable, for example, to information processing devices, image processing devices, encoding and decoding devices, electronic devices, information processing methods, programs, or the like.
