Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an information processing device and method which can suppress a reduction in encoding efficiency. The present disclosure involves: converting the coordinate system of geometry data from the polar coordinate system to the cartesian coordinate system for a point cloud representing a three-dimensional object as a set of points; using the generated geometry data in the cartesian coordinate system to set a reference relationship indicating a reference to be used for deriving a predicted value of attribute data of processing target points; deriving a predicted residual, which is the value of a difference between the attribute data of the processing target points and the predicted value derived on the basis of the set reference relationship; and encoding the derived predicted residual. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, an information processing device, an encoding device, a decoding device, an electronic apparatus, an information processing method, a program, or the like.
