Abstract:
A novel census transform technique is provided. A plurality of pixels other than a pixel of interest in a central region which is a closed region of a predetermined area including the pixel of interest, and at least one or more pixels in at least one or more peripheral regions present in a location spaced apart from the central region by at least one pixel are set in advance as transform subject pixels for census transform. Subject image data is acquired and, with respect to each pixel of the subject image data, a luminance value is calculated for each of the transform subject pixels when the pixel is defined as a pixel of interest. The luminance value of each of the transform subject pixels is compared with the luminance value of the pixel of interest. The pixels greater than the luminance value of the pixel of interest are transformed into "1", the pixels less than or equal to the luminance value of the pixel of interest are transformed into "0", and the transform results for all the transform subject pixels are arranged in a predetermined sequence to generate binary vector data as the census transform result for the pixel of interest.
