Abstract:
This information processing system comprises: an operation element that is displaced from an initial position according to a user operation; a restoration force-imparting means that applies a restoration force that returns the displaced operation element to the initial position; a resistance part that uses a ferrofluid that has a viscosity that changes according to the strength of a magnetic field, and that becomes resistant when the operation element is displaced to and from the initial position; a controller that is provided with a magnetic field generator for applying a magnetic field to the ferrofluid; and a circuit that is capable of controlling the magnetic field generator. The circuit controls the intensity of a magnetic field so as to periodically changes the viscosity of the ferrofluid between at least a first viscosity state and a second viscosity state that is of a lower viscosity than the first viscosity state and is of a magnitude that causes the operation element to return to the initial position due to the restoration.
