Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to achieve a configuration which enables an information recording/reproduction device utilizing multilevel recording to prevent/reduce crosstalk and cross-write by limiting the size of marks to be recorded on a recording medium only to a predetermined size that is no greater than a beam spot size. The information recording/reproduction device has: a recording pulse generation unit for generating recording pulses based on multilevel-modulated data; and a data recording unit for recording the marks on a recording medium on the basis of the recording pulses. The data recording unit executes: recording processing such that the sizes of all marks to be recorded on the recording medium are no greater than a spot size corresponding to a level that is half (1/2) the maximum value (Pmax) of the two-dimensional light intensity distribution (power profile) of the beam spot; and data recording processing such that recording regions having different densities of recording marks are formed in accordance with the various levels of the multilevel-modulated data.
