Abstract:
An ink for ink-jet recording in which at least one of a magenta dye and a cyan dye is dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous medium is characterized in that the wavelength (&lgr max) at which the maximum reflection concentration of the ink is achieved lies in the range of specific wavelength (&lgr ex) and the reflection concentration at a specific wavelength (&lgr er) longer than &lgr max is x% or less of the maximum reflection concentration. In the case of magenta dye ink, &lgr ex is 530 to 580 nm, &lgr er is 600 nm, and x is 50; in the case of cyan dye ink, &lgr ex is 580 to 630 nm, &lgr er is 670 nm, and x is 90. The dyes are preferably a magenta dye having a specific azo structure and a cyan dye having a specific phtalocyanine structure. With this, an ink for ink-jet recording having a good ejection stability, imparting an image of good hue, having an excellent preservability, imparting a high-quality image, and having a good performance even under harsh condition and an ink-jet recording method are provided.
