Provided is an input device (2) enabling a user to effectively search target information. The input device (2) includes: an operation unit (8) operated by a user; movement detection means for detecting a physical amount concerning a movement of an object in contact with the surface of the operation unit (8) or a physical amount concerning a movement of the operation unit (8); pressing detection means for detecting when the surface of the operation unit (8) is pressed; information group storage means for storing a plurality of information groups constituting a hierarchical structure formed by at least three layers; selection means for selecting unit information from the information groups in accordance with the physical amount; and confirmation means for confirming the selection of the unit information upon detection of that the operation unit (8) is pressed or pressing of the operation unit (8) is released. When selection of unit information in the information groups of the n-th layer is confirmed, the selection means is shifted to a state for selecting unit information from the information groups of the m-th layer between the uppermost layer and the n-th layer.
