Abstract:
Provided is an input device that has a simple structure and with which an increase in costs is suppressed. This input device includes: a housing having an operation surface on an upper surface side thereof, an opposing surface opposing the operation surface, a side surface provided below the circumference of the operation surface, and an internal space that extends from an opening section provided below the side surface toward the opposing surface; an upper surface operation detecting unit that is configured by a base plate disposed inside the internal space along the opposing surface and a first electrode pattern disposed on the upper surface side of the base plate, the upper surface operation detecting unit detecting a change in static capacitance of the first electrode pattern generated by capacitive coupling with an operating body caused by the approach or contact of the operating body toward or with the operating surface; a side surface operation detecting unit that is disposed on the side surface of the base plate below the upper surface operation detecting unit and that detects a change in static capacitance generated in response to a side surface operation performed on the side surface of the housing with the operating body; and a control unit that outputs operation signals based on the detection results of the upper surface operation detecting unit and the side surface operation detecting unit.
