Abstract:
Provided is an intake structure for an internal combustion engine in which an intake flow during a low-load operation easily flows in between an intake valve and an intake valve sheet along a tumble passage, and flows into a combustion chamber such that the tumble flow is strengthened, and fuel efficiency performance can be improved. In this intake structure for an internal combustion engine, in which a main flow passage 6B and the tumble passage 6A are formed by a partitioning wall 65 that vertically partitions an intake passage 6 in the passage direction between a throttle valve 62a and an intake valve 73, and the intake is guided into the tumble passage during a low-load operation of an internal combustion engine 4, a transverse cross-section 69 of the tumble passage formed by the partitioning wall is formed in a transverse oval shape, the longitudinal direction of which is the passage width direction; and one longitudinal end 69a in the transverse cross-section 69 of the tumble passage is oriented so as to follow the tangential direction of an opening edge 35a of an intake valve port 35, and the other end 69b is oriented so that the longitudinal width w of the transverse cross-section gradually narrows toward the intake valve port.
