Title:
INTEGRATED TRANSMITTING-RECEIVING CIRCUIT FOR AN OPTICAL DUPLEX SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999030195
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
An integrated transmitting-receiving circuit (transceiver) designed as two complementary types for an optical duplex system with two light waves with different operating wavelengths to be transmitted in opposite directions via an optical fibre has a wavelength-independent optical switch designed as a Y structure formed of waveguide paths. The first path of the switch is designed as a connecting waveguide between the optical fibre and the two other paths, the second path leads to the transmission laser designed according to the complementary type for the corresponding operating wavelength, and the third path leads to a photodetector system with two photodetector sections optically connected in series, designed each for one of the two operating wavelengths and electrically independent of one another. The photodetector section designed for the shorter operating wavelength is arranged between the switch and the photodetector section designed for the longer operating wavelength.
