Abstract:
Provided is an intermittently joined optical fiber ribbon in which joined sections and non-joined sections are provided intermittently along a lengthwise direction, the joined sections being sections where a plurality of coated optical fibers are disposed in parallel to each other and are covered with joining resin such that neighboring coated optical fibers are joined with each other, and the non-joined sections being sections where neighboring coated optical fibers are not joined with each other, and in which non-joined sections are not provided along the lengthwise direction for at least some pairs of coated optical fibers, wherein the joined sections are recessed, and c / a ≥ 1.5, b ≤ 50 mm, and (c / a) × p ≥ 200 mm, where a signifies the length of each joined section along the lengthwise direction, b signifies the length of a section where non-joined sections for different pairs of coated optical fibers overlap each other along the lengthwise direction, c signifies the length of each non-joined section along the lengthwise direction, and p signifies the pitch of joined sections along the lengthwise direction.
