Abstract:
In order to prevent the occurrence of misfire in an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine control system according to the present invention is provided with a clearance control unit for variably controlling the clearance between the top surface of the piston at the top dead center of compression and the cylinder head. When the quenching distance upon ignition of fuel is large, the clearance between the top surface of the piston at the top dead center of compression and the cylinder head is increased by the clearance control unit compared to when the quenching distance is small (S101, S102).
