Abstract:
The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine and a fuel injection valve in which the breakup position of a spray from the fuel injection valve that injects fuel to an intake port located upstream of an intake vale is set upstream of the intake vale, and the spray angle and the spray axial line of the fuel injection valve are set to a spray angle and a spray axial line with which a spray deflected by the intake air flow in the intake port does not contact a wall surface of the intake port at the breakup position. Consequently, it is possible to increase the spread of fuel spray in the intake port as much as possible, and to prevent the fuel spray from contacting the wall surface of the intake port even when the fuel spray is bent by the intake air flow.
