Abstract:
An internal combustion engine output characteristics control apparatus is provided with: a road traffic environment detection means that detects a road traffic environment in which one's own vehicle is travelling; a recommended vehicle speed calculation means that calculates a recommended vehicle speed for the one's own vehicle in the detected road traffic environment; a target output characteristics setting means that sets target output characteristics for the internal combustion engine such that the output of the internal combustion engine with respect to an accelerator operation amount is decreased with decreasing vehicle speed difference between the recommended vehicle speed and the speed of the one's own vehicle; and an output characteristics changing means that changes the output characteristics of the internal combustion engine to the target output characteristics.
