Title:
INVERTIBLE POLAR DECOMPOSITION METHOD FOR BACKSCATTERING MUELLER MATRIX
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/236406
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed in the present invention is an invertible polar decomposition method for a backscattering Mueller matrix, comprising the following steps: step 1, the invertible polar decomposition for a backscattering Mueller matrix transforming a backscattering Mueller matrix into a symmetric matrix QM according to the relationship between forward path and backward path dichroic matrices and a phase delay matrix; step 2, obtaining a dichroic matrix MD1 by means of a QMG matrix; step 3, performing orthogonal decomposition to obtain eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors; step 4, sorting the eigenvectors to obtain a depolarization matrix MΔd and a phase delay matrix MR1; and step 5, obtaining polarization parameters by means of the obtained depolarization matrix MΔd and phase delay matrix MR1. The method provides for the first time a systematic solution for decomposition of a backscattering Mueller matrix, and also obtains polarization parameters (such as the azimuth angle, phase delay and depolarization coefficient) that characterize the microstructure of a medium.
