Abstract:
An iontophoresis apparatus comprising working electrode structure (A) including a working electrode, a drug accommodating part and an ion exchange membrane; counter electrode structure (B) having a counter electrode for the working electrode; and power source unit (3) electrically connected with wires to the working electrode structure and the counter electrode structure, the iontophoresis apparatus adapted to permeate living organism with an ionic drug contained in the drug accommodating part through the ion exchange membrane by electrophoresis, characterized in that the ion exchange membrane has such a structure that a porous film at void portions is filled with an ion exchange resin. The iontophoresis apparatus including this ion exchange membrane can realize drug administration in large amount as compared with that attained by conventional apparatuses.
