Abstract:
Provided is an iron-base powder for a dust core with which a dust core exhibiting high relative permeability and low iron loss can be obtained even under conditions such as a drive frequency of less than 1 kHz. This iron-base powder for a dust core includes iron-base particles, and these iron-base particles have an iron-base core body and an insulating coating that covers the surface of this iron-base core body. The average particle size D50 of the iron-base core body is 150 – 250 µm, and the insulating coating has at least a two-layer structure of a lower layer formed from a phosphate-based conversion coating and an upper layer formed from a silicone resin coating laminated onto this lower layer. The phosphorus content of the iron-base particles having the phosphate-based conversion coating is 0.012 – 0.030% by mass greater than the phosphorus content of the iron-base particles before being covered with the phosphate-based conversion coating.
