A joining method for a belt shaped plate according to an embodiment comprises a support step for applying a support member (52) to an end part on the reverse transport direction side of the belt shaped plate, which is transported to a press machine, and to an end part on the transport direction side of an end part on the transport direction side of a new belt shaped plate, and a joining step for joining the new belt shaped plate to the belt shaped plate by applying tape (22) between the end part on the reverse transport direction side of the belt shaped plate and the end part on the transport direction side of the new belt shaped plate. In the joining step, the tape (22) is applied from the side opposite to the support member (52) in a state wherein the support member (52) is applied to the end part on the reverse transport direction side of the belt shaped plate and the end part on the transport direction side of the new belt shaped plate. Thus, variations in joining quality that have been a problem when joining thin, wide belt shaped plates are resolved, and the belt shaped plates are smoothly transported.
