Abstract:

Disclosed is a ketone-modified resorcinol-formalin resin which exhibits a moderate fluidability when prepared into an aqueous solution and is reduced in both the content of a resorcinol monomer and the content of a ketone-modified resorcinol-formalin resin containing five or more resorcinol nuclei and a resorcinol-formalin resin containing five or more resorcinol nuclei. A ketone-modified resorcinol-formalin resin which can be produced by a two-stage reaction and which has a peak area corresponding to a resorcinol monomer of 3 to 9% and a peak area corresponding to five or more resorcinol nuclei of 30 to 55% relative to the whole peak area determined by gel permeation chromatography of a resorcinol-formalin resin.
