Abstract:

A key plate and a method of producing the same, free from such conventional problems that machining of two code grooves of a key plate is inefficient and precision of the code grooves is difficult to secure, wherein a cutter C used for machining a code groove (11) is directly used for machining a connecting groove (13) by connecting the rear end of one of the code grooves of a key plate (K¿1?) to the rear end portion of the other code groove (12) by the connecting groove (13) and the code groove (12) can be machined continuously. Therefore, the code groove (11), the connecting groove (13) and the code groove (12) can be machined in one operation without returning the cutter (C) to the origin, and the machining time of the code grooves can be shortened. The connecting groove (13) so machined can be utilized as a groove for permitting the movement of dog plates (23) of a cylinder lock (L) in a retracting direction.
