Abstract:
A key for a vehicle capable of preventing a drunken person from driving the vehicle. The key for a vehicle comprises a key part (100) having a fore end part (110) to be inserted into the key hole of a vehicle, e.g. an electric car, a motorcycle, or an automobile, and a holder part (200) provided at the base end part (120) of the key part (100). The holder part (200) incorporates a projecting member (300) projecting from the holder part (200) along the key part (100), a spring (400) for biasing the projecting member (300) in the projecting direction, a means (500) for detecting alcohol contained in the expiration of the user, and a lock mechanism (600) for locking the projecting member (300) in a projecting state depending on the result of detection by the alcohol detecting means (500).
