Title:
L-CYSTEINE-PRODUCING BACTERIUM, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF L-CYSTEINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/065469
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A novel technique for improving the L-cysteine-producing ability of a bacterium is developed. Thus, disclosed are: an L-cysteine-producing bacterium; and a process for producing a compound such as L-cysteine using the bacterium. L-Cysteine, L-cystine or a derivative thereof can be produced by culturing a bacterium that is capable of producing L-cysteine, belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae and has been so modified that the activity of a protein encoded by yciW gene (e.g., a protein mentioned in item (A) or (B)) is reduced, in a culture medium, and collecting any one of the compounds or a mixture thereof from the culture medium. (A) A protein which has the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2. (B) A protein which has an amino acid sequence produced by substituting, deleting, inserting or adding one or a few amino acid residues in the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2, and which has such a characteristic property that the L-cysteine production ability of the bacterium is improved when the activity of the protein is decreased in the bacterium.
