A door apparatus of an elevator capable of preventing a smoke shielding material from being damaged and noise from occurring and eliminating the need of increasing the longitudinal dimension of a hoistway or partially reducing the thickness dimension of a door on the landing side. The door apparatus comprises at least two sheets of landing doors (1a) and (1b) on one side. The inter-door smoke shielding material (3b) is installed at the rear end part of the landing door (1a) installed on the hoistway side to provide smoke shielding performance to the door apparatus. The door apparatus is formed such that the lateral width (Lb) of the landing door (1b) installed on the landing side is larger than the lateral width (La) of the landing door (1a) installed on the hoistway side. Thus, when the doors are fully opened, the inter-door smoke shielding material installed at the rear end part of the door (1a) on the hoistway side is positioned in a clearance between the rear end part of the landing side door (1b) and the rear end part of the door (1a) on the hoistway side.
