Abstract:
A transmission control unit (11) causes at least two encoding signals to be sequentially transmitted from a side sonar (1). A correlation function calculation unit (13) calculates a correlation function between each of the encoding signals and a reception signal acquired from the side sonar (1). A determination unit (14) determines, on the basis of the calculated correlation function, whether the side sonar (1) has, during transmission of one of the at least two encoding signals, received a reflection wave of another encoding signal. An obstacle detection unit (16) outputs information indicating presence of a lateral obstacle (40) when the determination unit (14) determines that the side sonar (1) has received a reflection wave of the other encoding signal.
