A lead storage battery device is provided with: a lead storage battery; a charge control unit that charges the lead storage battery by alternately repeating high-voltage charging in which a pulse-form high voltage is applied to the lead storage battery, and low-voltage charging in which a low voltage that is lower than the high voltage is applied to the lead storage battery; and an internal-resistance calculation unit that calculates the internal resistance of the lead storage battery on the basis of the amount of change in voltage and the amount of change in current of the lead storage battery between when the pulse-form high voltage is applied and when the pulse-form high voltage is not applied. The internal-resistance calculation unit calculates the internal resistance on the basis of the amount of change in voltage and the amount of change in current between the timing at which a predetermined amount of time has elapsed within the period in which the voltage between the terminals of the lead storage battery gradually increases or gradually decreases from when the low-voltage charging or high-voltage charging switches to the other, and the timing prior to the switching.
