A leakage detection and discharge method for a refrigerant of an air conditioner, aiming to solve the problems that existing refrigerant leakage detection and determination methods of air conditioners are undiversified, extremely prone to misjudgment, and easy to burn an electric component on an outdoor side, and have great potential safety hazards. For this purpose, the leak detection and discharge method for a refrigerant comprises: acquiring an exhaust temperature of a compressor, a coil temperature of an indoor unit, and the operating frequency and an outdoor ambient temperature of the compressor in real time during the operation of an air conditioner; according to the exhaust temperature of the compressor, the coil temperature of the indoor unit, and the operating frequency and the outdoor ambient temperature of the compressor, determining whether a refrigerant leakage occurs in the air conditioner; and stopping the compressor and starting an exhaust fan after a set time when a refrigerant leakage occurs in the air conditioner. According to the method, the accuracy of refrigerant leakage detection and determination can be improved, and when a refrigerant leaks, the refrigerant can be discharged, so that the safety of an air conditioner is improved.
