Abstract:
This lens optical element is characterized by being provided with an on-chip lens on which a convex surface is formed on the top of a column shaped part and a light emitting surface disposed in a state covered by the bottom of the column shaped part of this on-chip lens. The lens optical element is further characterized by the relationship between the lens height, which is defined as the height to the peak of the convex surface from the light emitting surface, the thickness of the column shaped part, and the refractive index of the constituent material for the on-chip lens being defined such that the convex surface of the on-chip lens is seen with uniform brightness when the light emitting surface emits light.
