Abstract:
This light deflection device includes a deflection element (12) that has an incidence surface for receiving laser light emitted from a light source and that deflects the laser light, and an incidence surface limiting unit (11) that is provided between the light source and the light deflection element and that limits the incidence of laser light to the incidence surface. The deflection element includes a first and a second unit, which are aligned in a first direction and include stacked first (20_1) and second liquid crystal panels (20_7). Each of the first and second liquid crystal panels include: a first (27) and second substrates (28); a liquid crystal layer (23) filling the interval between the first and second substrates; a first electrode (25a) provided on the first substrate of the first unit and the second unit; and a first common electrode (26) provided on the second substrate thereof. The incidence surface limiting unit limits the incidence of laser light to a first region contained in a region of the incidence surface from a second end of the first electrode (25a(1)) of the first liquid crystal panel in the first unit to a second end of the first electrode (25a(2)) of the second liquid crystal panel in the second unit.
