Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to a light detection device and an electronic instrument which enable reduction in reflection of incident light in accordance with the image height position. This light detection device is provided with a pixel array unit in which pixels are arranged in a two-dimensional array, the pixels each having: a refractive index changing layer having, in the same layer, at least two regions of a first region containing a first substance and a second region containing a second substance; and a photoelectric conversion unit for photoelectrically converting light entering through the refractive index changing layer. The effective refractive index of the refractive index changing layer is configured to vary depending on the image height position. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, a light reception device or the like of a distance measuring system, and a solid-state imaging device.
