Provided is a novel light-emitting device. Also, provided is a light-emitting device with a favorable light-emitting efficiency. Also, provided is a light-emitting device with a favorable service life. Also, provided is a light-emitting device with a low driving voltage. Also, provided is a light-emitting apparatus with a favorable display quality. Provided is a light-emitting device having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an EL layer positioned between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, wherein: the EL layer has a hole injection layer, a light-emitting layer, and an electron transportation layer; the electron transportation layer includes an electron transportation material and a simple substance, compound, or complex of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; and the resistivity of the hole transportation layer is within a certain range.
