Abstract:
This light emitting device of the present disclosure comprises: a solid state light source that emits excitation light; a phosphor layer that has a first refractive index, is placed on the light emission surface side of the solid state light source, and has a first reflective film on the side surface; a low refractive index layer that is provided on the phosphor layer, and has a second refractive index that is smaller than the first refractive index; and a sealing member that contains the phosphor layer and the low refractive index layer, and also has a third refractive index that is the same or greater than the second refractive index.
