A light-emitting device (2) for emitting output light (L) comprises: a first light-emitting part (20) that includes a light-emitting element (21) and a first fluorescent body, and that emits first light (L1); and a second light-emitting part (30) that includes a light-emitting element (31) and a second fluorescent body, and that emits second light (L2). The light-emitting element (31) emits light having the same color as that of light emitted by the light-emitting element (21). The output light (L) includes the first light (L1) and the second light (L2). The first light (L1) is white light. The second light (L2) has at least a predetermined value over the entire wavelength range of at least 720 nm and at most 900 nm. With respect to the maximum value of the light intensity of the second light (L2) in a wavelength range of 720-900 nm, the ratio of the light intensity of the second light (L2) at 720 nm and the ratio of the light intensity of the second light (L2) at 850 nm are each at least 0.1. The ratio of the maximum value of the light intensity of the second light (L2) with respect to the maximum value of the light intensity of the first light (L1) is 0.05-20.
