Abstract:
A light source device pertaining to one embodiment is provided with: a semiconductor light source for emitting light in an amount corresponding to a current applied thereto; a control unit for determining a current instruction value on the basis of control information input therein; a first drive unit connected to the semiconductor light source and the control unit and capable of outputting a current at a magnitude corresponding to the current instruction value to the semiconductor light source; and a second drive unit connected to the semiconductor light source and the control unit and capable of outputting a current at a magnitude corresponding to the current instruction value to the semiconductor light source. The minimum value of the current output by the first drive unit is smaller than the minimum value of the current output by the second drive unit. The maximum value of the current output by the first drive unit is smaller than the maximum value of the current output by the second drive unit and is larger than the minimum value of the current output by the second drive unit.
