Abstract:
Disclosed is a lighting device which utilizes LEDs, and has good light scattering properties, reduced glare when looked straight in the eye and also has advantageous properties of the LEDs. Specifically disclosed is a lighting device (1) comprising: a light guide plate (2) that can eject light introduced through an edge surface thereof through the main surface thereof; and multiple LEDs (3) arranged on the edge surface. In the lighting device (1), the length (L) (cm) of the light guide plate (2) in the light-guiding direction and the width (W) (cm) of the light guide plate (2) orthogonal to both the light-guiding direction and the direction of the thickness of the light guide plate (2) meet the requirement represented by the formula: W/L ≥ 10, and the number of the LEDs (3) is (W/L)/2 or more. The lighting device (1) additionally comprises: a frame body (4) which accommodates the light guide plate (2) and the LEDs (3); and a power terminal (5) for the LEDs (3), which is arranged on at least one end part of the frame body (4) which corresponds to the direction of width of the light guide plate (2).
