Provided is a lighting device which comprises an ion generation unit, the lighting device being capable of dispersing ions into the entire space within a room interior or the like. A lighting device is provided with a body (1) and an ion generation unit (10). The body (1) houses a light source unit including an LED as the light source. The ion generation unit (10) has a vortex flow fan, an ion generation element, and a housing (20) which is disposed on the upper surface of the heat radiation plate (3) of the body (1) and which houses the vortex flow fan. The housing (20) has a suction opening (23) and a discharge opening. The suction opening (23) causes air to flow into the housing (20). The discharge opening discharges ions together with air from the inside of the housing (20) to the outside of the body (1). The suction opening (23) is disposed at the outer edge of the heat radiation plate (3) of the body (1) and is directed in the substantially horizontal direction so that air flows in the direction from the outer side to the inner side of the upper surface of the heat radiation plate (3). The discharge opening is directed substantially vertically downward.
