Abstract:
A line concentrator used for Internet telephone. A terminal is connected to a terminal interface. A circuit interface is connected to the Internet by suing a network such as a public circuit. A communication function unit controls the input/output of an audio signal or an Internet Protocol (IP) packet at the terminal interface and the circuit interface. A conversion unit converts alternately an IP packet and an audio signal. The IP address of the line concentrator is stored in a memory. A connection setup unit instruct the communication function unit to transmits an IP datagram including the IP address of the line concentrator to the network and sets up a connection between the terminal and another terminal. A judging unit judges whether or not the terminal connected to the terminal interface can do IP communication.
