Abstract:
Provided is a technique for the water-repellent treatment of wood, which does not detract the material feeling of wood such as tactual sense, can be practiced with ease and simplicity at an ordinary temperature under an ordinary pressure, and can impart the water-resistant and water-repellent function to the surface of wood uniformly. A liquid composition for the water-repellent treatment of wood which comprises one or more of surfactants having, as a hydrophilic group, a carboxylic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, a phosphoric acid group, an amino-acid group, or a derivative or a salt of the above group, and a lower alcohol is prepared. A wood material is treated with the above liquid composition for the water-repellent treatment of wood and an inorganic liquid comprising a metal (calcium, barium, zinc, aluminum, magnesium, iron, copper, tin, nickel, lead, cadmium or the like).
