Abstract:
A liquid-crystal alignment agent which comprises a polyimide that is a product of reaction between a diamine ingredient and a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride derivative ingredient comprising at least one dianhydride selected from among aliphatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides and alicyclic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides, the diamine ingredient comprising at least one diamine selected from among diamines having a structure of formula [A], wherein the polyimide has a degree of imidization of 70% or higher. In formula [A], X1 and X2 are each independently an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, R is shown by [-((CH2)2O)p(CH2)2-], and p is an integer of 1-3.
