Abstract:
The present invention provides a polymerizable liquid crystal composition which has negative dielectric anisotropy and can be formed into a liquid crystal display element having no display failure or very little display failures while satisfying the requirements of displayability in a wide temperature range, drivability at a low-voltage, rapid response and high VHR which are commonly required from liquid crystal compositions. The present invention relates to a liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase-isotropic liquid phase transition temperature of 100℃ or higher and negative dielectric anisotropy, the liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound represented by general formula (N-1) and at least one polymerizable compound, wherein, as the compound represented by general formula (N-1), a compound in which nN11 represents an integer of 1 to 3 and at least one of ZN11's represents -CH2O- is contained.
