A liquid crystal display apparatus and a brightness compensation method therefor, the apparatus comprising: a display panel (2) and a backlight panel (1); the display panel (2) comprises: a conventional display area (21) and a transparent display area (22); a first light source (11) and a second light source (12) are provided on the backlight panel (1); the transparent display area (22) is provided in the conventional display area (21), and the liquid crystals in the transparent display area (22) are different from the liquid crystals in the conventional display area (21).
